If it is remote Scottish cottages you want, then we have one of the remotest!
Duchally Lodge is a truly remote Scottish cottage. Set in Glen Cassley, it is reached by a 12 mile single track road (tarmacked) which stops at the lodge. The lodge sits on its own other than for the Stalker’s cottage which is right next door, though the stalker and his wife will be there if you need them but other than that you’ll be left entirely on your own. (Most of our guests really like the idea of having someone on hand who works on the estate and know everything about the area and the lodge, but equally won’t disturb you in any way.)
The lodge sleeps up to eight guests in its 2 double and 2 twin bedrooms. Rated an impressive 4 star by the Scottish Tourist Board, the property enjoys a surprisingly high degree of luxury given its remote location. There’s also broadband and satellite TV so you can certainly stay connected with the outside world.
What makes Duchally Lodge so special though is what’s outside: an amazing and wild landscape. There are endless walks which can start right outside the lodge, with one of them including a hike to the top of Ben More Assynt. And it’s because of this wild landscape that Duchally not only attracts walkers, but those with a real love of nature and the chance of seeing something truly special such as a Golden Eagle.
So for one of the most remote scottish cottages but also with a high degree of comfort, Duchally Lodge is hard to beat.
